Three Sisters Mountains Ponderosa Pine Needle Basket with Lid

A wood cut out featuring the "Three Sisters" mountains of our beautiful Cascade range adorns the centerpiece of this baskets' lid. Dave has used burn etching, also known as pyrography, to accent the mountains and name. This basket measures 4 1/2 inches in diameter and 2 1/2 inches in height.  Additional photos of this ponderosa pine needle basket can be found in our Etsy shop.

Little Red Baskets

We have added two new ponderosa pine needle baskets to our Etsy shop.  These dainty little beauties have had their needles dyed a rich red color, and have been adorned with natural elements of bone, turquoise, seed pod and fish vertebrae.  You can find these and other pine needle baskets here.

Lost Treasure!

This summer we decided to take a break from doing shows, so all of our plastic bins containing our various show supplies (tablecloths, etc) had remained stacked in our studio.  While looking for something else, I happened to open one and found a treasure trove of pine needle baskets!  You know you make a lot of baskets when you find an entire bin full that you hadn't seen in a while.  We have begun to photograph these and have listed nine of them in our Etsy shop today.

Oregon Myrtlewood and Pine Needle Work Basket Set

Dave has made a very unique tatting shuttle and basket set! The 2 5/8 shuttle is made from Oregon Myrtlewood and he has hand stitched the basket using Oregon ponderosa pine needles, both depicting a Cascade Mountain motif. The work basket is 5 x 6 inch oval and 3 inches high. It has an oak oval in the bottom and a walnut lid center piece. Each has been initialed and dated by Dave, the maker.

Grizzly Mountain Arts Now On 1000Markets.com!

I have finally convinced Dave to open a shop on 1000markets.com!  I have had one there for a while now for my ceramic jewelry, but knew Dave's coiled pine needle baskets would be perfect for the site.

While I love making the coiled baskets, my hands won't cooperate these days and boy, has Dave ever taken up the slack!   He has put our large stash of Ponderosa pine needles to good use, creating some outstanding pieces.

Dave's baskets incorporate some of my ceramic centerpieces, pyrography on wood and fossil ivory with scrimshaw.
